Shock to Finland: No gas, Russia cut off Electricity supply

Russia will cut off electricity supplies to Finland this weekend, the supplier said today as tensions escalated over Helsinki’s NATO bid over Moscow’s military campaign in Ukraine.

“We are forced to suspend electricity imports starting May 14,” said RAO Nordik, a subsidiary of Russia’s state-owned energy holding Inter RAO.

“RAO Nordik is not able to pay for electricity imported from Russia,” the company said.
